When she spotted Ginger, the frown immediately appeared on her face.
Ginger thought, "What a cold-hearted family."
Alkmene demanded, "What are you doing here?"
All her anger vanished when she thought about Jordan and his massacred body besides Kyle.
Ginger exhales and says, "Jordan is dead. I wanted to tell you two in person."
Riley mouth fell open and his face transformed to utter shock. She could only imagine
what he was going through. The loss of a son was huge and she could only sympathize with him. Sure she loosed almost everyone she cared about, but that inaction shock was the worse. A disbelieving Alkmene stumbled to a chair and collapsed with tears filling her eyes.
The beautiful dinning room would forever be destroyed by the memory of the place they found out their son was dead. Ginger hated to do this, but had little other choice.
Ginger states, "I also have some news."
Riley looked up at her trying to hold some form of order and asked, "What is it?"
Ginger sighs and replies, "I have reason to believe your sister Shalice is alive."
That snapped a whole range of emotions across Alkmene's face that quietly stopped crying and a mean glare was thrown at Ginger. She gave Ginger a full blast of hatred.
Alkmene shouts, "How are you? First you come in here and rip my heart to shreds by telling me my only child is dead. And now have the nerve to stir up false hope about my deceased sister. Get out of my house now!"
With that hateful respond she expected nothing less. Ginger turned on her heels and headed towards the front door, but felt Riley following her. She glanced over her shoulder to see his shadow looming over her like a dark cloud and Ginger stopped at the door. She turned around to face him, gaining an ounce of definite.
Ginger asked, "I know you are in pain but in my heart I have to say this, so just listen.
This is a painful time and you two aren't thinking rationally, but maybe this little bite of hope is what you guys need to get you through this. Reuniting Stacey and Yvette with Shalice would be a miracle, and if I can see that happen; then I damn sure going to make it happen."
Riley answers, "I'll think that over. I gave Aaron clearance for you to visit Moville. It is cloaked so ask someone with connections to get you there. Goodbye Ginger."
With those words he closed the door silently in her face.
Ginger thinks, "I can't believe he showed an ounce of compassion."
Chapter Seventeen:
Ginger called Luke, Guadalupe and Leo as soon as she gained a moment of clarity. No way was she going to some prison alone. Leo was her way inside with his connection and Luke was worried sick after last night. She hated asking Lupio who probably have plans with Stephen, but assured her he didn't. What an amazing friend to lie to her when in her time of need.
The guys met her in Corona, why? Well apparently that is where the location is hidden.
She had learned from Penny that cloaking magic works best in isolated locations. She
was happy it was partially hot for an 8:36 evening in the desert.
Leo appeared with Luke. The men got along for the most part. It was as if they tolerated one another, so she was happy that she saw the motorcycle pull up. Luke hopped off the back and came racing toward her.
The moment his arms wrapped around her, the world floated away. Ginger sweeps her lips against his and he forced her mouth open. Ginger pressed her body snuggly up against his and basted in his presence as his tongue tasted like heaven.
Bile was heard, which broke up their reunion. Leo was smirking so no hard feelings.
Ginger smiled up at him, before she looked around. Where was Guadalupe?
Leo asked, "What are we waiting for?"
Ginger replies, "A friend."
Luke answers, "What's the rush?"
Leo shrugs and says, "Maybe some of us have dates."
Ginger gasps and states, "Sorry. I forget to ask. How are you, or do you have plans tonight?"
Luke laughs and responds, "Exactly, but we know your heart is in the right place."
She smiles. A shadow appears before transforming back into Guadalupe. The four of them star at one another.
Ginger asks, "So where is Moville?"
Leo turns around to the empty desert miles from any civilization and says, "Here."
They all look perplexed. Leo closes his eyes and Ginger felt it, magic start to shift reality to reveal the other aspects of life.
Red flashes as the desert fell away. The solidarity spot opened up an arch-way. Leo turns to look at the small group, smirk on his face as he steps through. A portal but what awaits them?
Before Ginger could give this some serious thought, Lupio followed behind. Turning to his left side, where just a moment ago Luke was there he steps forward.
She wonders to herself, "Why am I suddenly afraid? I asked to talk to these people and here I am. Go on Ginger, be yourself and never be afraid of the unknown."
Ginger took a deep breath, closed her eyes and walked in.
Chapter Eighteen:
Stepping through the portal was like leaving a hot desert and walking into a cool, air conditioned room. When she opened her eyes that is exactly what she had done. Stood infront of a reception area as three set of familiar eyes turn to gaze at her.
She smiled shyly and walked besides Luke and stood next to Guadalupe. Leo signed them in and said they were clear by Riley Echolls, but she could only see one inmate.
That struck her as weird but who did she want to confront. Who was the most forth coming in all her encounters? The obvious answer was Brutus Creed; he was a real son of a bitch but was the most honest with her. Took pleasure in her misery and pain.
Ginger told the guard who she wanted to see, he nodded and walkie in to make it happen.
The wait was only five minutes but felt like hours. She was anxious to get this over with and asked Leo to come in with her. Her boyfriend was too emotional and her bestfriend was likely to knock the smug bastard out.
Taking a deep breath when Leo nudged her forward. The locked door was buzzed open and Ginger walked inside. She didn't know what to expect, but plain white walls and a guard to escort her to a private interrogation room wasn't it.
Inside the room was a desk with two chairs on one side and across from where they sat was a chained Brutus awaiting their arrival. Ginger was happy to have Leo standing next to her when they sat, but seeing this monster like this brought no joy. One thing she could say was that Leonard Lions knew how to keep his cool, confident demeanor.
Brutus says, "Ah, Ginger Artemis Solis. What honor have I committed to see your radiant beauty again so soon?"
Ginger rolled her eyes and responds, "Cut the crap. I want answers. Just speak with sense or else I'll make you regret the day you met me."
Brutus tsst and answers, "My you have bite since the last time we saw one another. My little birdie has grown up since we last spoke. I like this version much better. Like fine wine, you only seem to get richer and enchanting with age."
Leo snorts and says, "She said cut the crap, so listen up or do you want a rush order back to confinement?"
Brutus frowns and answers, "So cruel. I was just having a bit of fun. Go ahead and ask your questions. I'll play nice."
Ginger took a second to think where to start and asks, "Do you know Jensen Sanders?"
Brutus replies, "Yes, why do you ask?"
Ginger ignores his question and answers, "Where you after the indigo list?"
Brutus gazes at her a moment and speaks, "No. You saw first hand what I was after. I had it into you came along."
Ginger nods and wonders, "Is Shalice alive?"
Brutus laughs and answers, "How should I know?"
Leo snaps, "Answer her and keep it pleasant, or else."
Brutus laughs and says, "You will threaten me. Done that already."
Ginger asks, "What about MaryAnne Kris, is she alive?"
Brutus
sits up and replies; "Now that is an interesting question. I wish I knew the answer. Sadly I don't but you already know the person to ask for that answer. I have my connection even inside this hell hole."
Ginger gets up and snaps, "We're through here."
Brutus chuckles and states, "So soon? Pity. I thought you wanted to know all about that killer you're after."
Leo asks, "What do you know about that?"
Brutus smirks and replies, "That Jensen, Spider, and the rest of your precious elders have secrets that they'd rather keep buried. Isn't that worth looking into?"
Those last words sent shivers of fear down Ginger's spin because they rang a small level of doubt at trusting Spider these days.
Chapter Nineteen:
Back in the front room where she started at reception, she took a step toward Luke and he pulled her into his arms. Ginger held out her hand as Guadalupe clasps on, using her telepathy she sent a telepathic message relaying everything that just happened. He nodded, let go and was gone in a flash.
She hoped he'd have better luck at trying to track this serial killer down. Lupio and Stacey can figure that out, while she worked out where was Shalice? Why had MaryAnne placed that curse on Daniel and if Shalice was alive; then Daniel can be free and live his life.
Luke sat in the front seat besides Leo as he drove them home, which she was thankfully for. No way was she driving home in her current condition and he left his bike in Corona.
Ginger was beyond tired and didn't want to have to use her powers to get home; she squeezed Luke's shoulder and got out of the car, walked up the driveway.
Somebody was watching her, that made her stop mid way and she just knew she was being stared at. It must be her psychic instincts as she opened her mind to sweep the area.
That mind was powerful, whoever was watching her. It had shields blocking her from reading his or her mind to decipher whom it was.
Instead of trying to enter a stranger's mind, she tried to use her other abilities. She did the next rational thing.
Ginger says, "I can sense you watching me so come out and talk to me like a normal person."
The trees moves in the distance like somebody like Jurnee had rushed by at quick lighting speed. A bush stirred to her right, the howl of the wind spooked her.
She says, "Screw this."
Before she makes it to the front door, a hand grazes her back. Which stops her in the mad dash to get inside? Ginger twirls around to come face to face with a slightly cloned Peter.
Peter Harman was an only child, so no way was this a twin or sibling. The young man before her was a slight mirror image none the less.
He spoke, "Call me Raymond Harman. I am Peter's cousin. You're Ginger. Can we go in and speak? I have some information to help you in your search on finding Shalice."
Ginger didn't want to let a stranger into the house, but something about him was telling her to trust him and let down her guard.
Chapter Twenty:
Once inside she sensed Aaron was in his study and Yvette upstairs trying to talk herself into going out tonight. Something Ginger would have to help her with. A push to face her fear and not live her life with a small back-step in life.
Raymond says, "The kitchen?"
Ginger nods and asks, "Tea and crackers."
Raymond smiles and inquires, "Are they honey flavored?"
Ginger gaps and asked, "How'd you guess?"
Raymond replies, "A tiny part of my gift."
They sat and drank tea while enjoying honey flavored graham crackers.
Raymond says, "I am a soul-reader and have a unique ability. The last of its kind. It's called emic where I can change destiny for a person."
Ginger pips up and listens carefully.
Raymond continues, "Spider has asked me to mentor his protégée."
Ginger interrupts and asks, "You must mean me."
Raymond shakes his head and answers, "Not exactly. I think he has others like you he is banking on."
That was disappointing to hear but not all that surprising. Ginger wasn't as special as she originally thought.
Ginger states, "So why are you here?"
Raymond responds, "Good question. To help guide you. Didn't you wonder what makes you so special? An ancient demon mentor, a guardian angel whenever you need help, and many others who just so happened to help guide you."
That was true; no amount of help has been shortened.
Ginger asks, "What about Shalice?"
Raymond nods and replies, "She is suspended in animation which allows her to stop aging and a special spell she placed on herself protects her from being found."
Ginger asks, "So why hasn't anyone found her?"
Raymond responds, "They didn't know to be looking. I am going to help you find her. The only downside is I am messing with Spider's plans. Once I do that he will replace me more then likely if really angry."
Ginger gasps in horror and demands, "I can't allow any harm to befall you by helping me."
Raymond states, "It is my choice. I want to do this. Good and this is how I can help. I can help reunite a family with a loved one. Just remember that it wasn't MaryAnne that sent that letter and Shalice may have more then one enemy."
Ginger hadn't considered that. She takes Raymond hand and before he could use his powers a portal opens up in the kitchen. There stood a pissed off Spider emerging.
Chapter Twenty-One:
Raymond doesn't let go of her hand, as his eyes glow green and Spider throws a thunderbolt at them. The next thing Ginger knows she hits the floor with pain coursing through her. Glass being shattered and a chair falls on top of her.
Opening her eyes to see a fuming Spider casting a spell. Raymond looks in pain like she feels, and a second later he is simply gone. Yvette is cradling her head in her lap.
Ginger wonders, "What happened?"
Time seemed to keep moving besides what she could remember. Aaron is rushing to crouch down besides her, checking to reassure her that everything is going to be okay.
Ginger coughs and looks at Spider who has a mask of concern on.
She thinks, "Oh that is rich."
Ginger can't believe he'd hurt Raymond. She wouldn't believe it if she hadn't saw for herself what he is capable of. All for trying to help her find Shalice.
She wonders, "Was Spider the one to send the note to Shalice the day before she went missing?"
Aaron demands, 'What is going on in here? Ginger are you alright?"
Ginger nods and says, "I am fine dad."
Aaron points to Spider not losing an ounce of anger at her soothing words and asks, "What are you doing in my house using your powers?"
Spider clears bile from his throat and responds, "Tea and crackers. I accidentally raised my voice which unexpectedly caused my powers to lose control."
Ginger looked shocked and was about to say something into Yvette grip tightened around her head. The pain made her rethink why he was lying and confronting him infront of them.
Aaron nods and states, "Best you call it a night Jonah."
Spider agrees and says, "Goodnight. We'll talk again real soon."
He was shown to the front door, Ginger got up while Yvette straighten up the kitchen.
She had a slight limp which gave Aaron an excuse to help her upstairs. A doting father as she leaned into him, and they made it up to her room in no time.
Ginger went to the bathroom, painfully sat on the toilet seat to give herself a moment before she ran a steaming hot bath to sooth her over used muscles. Yvette came in the bathroom and sat on the edge of the tub, rubbed her arm and smiled at Ginger.
Yvette says, "We need to talk."
Ginger states, "Yeah, like why'd you stop me from calling him out on his lies."
Yvette answers, "Because that would have been foolish. That man is dangerous. My gut warned me to stop him before you said anything. I won't ask, just take a soak and try and relax."
She wonders, "Was that Hannah intervening."
Ginger nods and responds, "Will do."
Yvette stops the tub, cuts the water on full blast and touches Ginger again. Whatever Yvette did was a micro version of innate magic because before Ginger got in the tub her body felt like it had hours of sleep and never had that altercation with Spider.
Chapter Twenty- Two:
Once washed up and ready for bed, Ginger sat at her desk re-editing her last few chapters of her fantasy fiction novel. Luke wanted her to email her the draft, once done she pulled out her journal and started to write.
Time flew by and it was already 10:06 at night. She sent a quick text to Jensen, asking him to come to town so they could talk. She needed answers and hoped he'd be able to help. The last thing she wanted to do was visit Piper again alone.
She made that mistake once, and swore Stacey she'd never do it again. Oh, the wedding.
